Shark activity will keep Crane Beach closed to swimming for days
A great white shark sighting first closed Crane Beach in Ipswich on Tuesday when a police officer on a boat spotted a shark in about five to seven feet of water. Now the Trustees of Reservations says Crane Beach will be closed for swimming until at least Monday after consulting with biologists and law enforcement.

IPSWICH — A great white shark was sighted off of Crane Beach on Tuesday, according to Ipswich police. Police said a shark was seen in approximately 5 to 7 feet of water off the east end of Crane Beach. Police posted two videos of the shark on the department's Facebook page.
