Nearly seven million viewers watched the Emmy Awards on September 15 night a jump of more than 50 percent from the record low of the last ceremony in January and the biggest audience since 2021

The 76th Primetime Emmy Awards scored an average of 6.87 million viewers Sunday on ABC, a significant increase over the trophy show's recent doldrums and the best showing since 2021, according to Nielsen.

The predictability of winners contributed to the show’s overall dryness. “The Bear,” which received a record-breaking 23 nominations as a comedy series, won 11 awards. And, as expected, the most nominated show “Shōgun” — receiving a whopping 25 nominations — won the most awards of the night, racking up 18 trophies.

Sunday night's 76th Primetime Emmy Awards, in which “Shogun,” “Hacks” and “Baby Reindeer” won top awards, was back in its traditional mid-September spot after the rare January ceremony that was delayed four months by Hollywood's strikes. That show, which aired on Fox, reached a record low audience of 4.3 million viewers.
