The Supreme Court on Monday said it will hear on October 1 a case it has initiated on its own following the rape and murder of a resident doctor at the RG Kar Medical College

Kolkata: The protesting junior doctors on Saturday had resumed emergency services at various government hospitals and also at flood affected areas. A team of 30 junior doctors from two different medical colleges visited the flooded areas and not just treatment they were also seen distributing dry foods to the affected people of the area.

Bengal government replied to the doctors' mail and invited representatives for talks at secretariat 'Nabanna' at 6 pm on Wednesday, news agency PTI quoted an official as saying.

Junior doctors in West Bengal have partially returned to work after a 42-day protest following the rape and murder of a female doctor. They are attending to essential and emergency services but avoiding outpatient departments.

Junior doctors rejoined their duties partially on Saturday morning at various government-run hospitals in West Bengal after a hiatus of 42 days.

This came after junior doctors, on Thursday late evening, announced a partial withdrawal of their strike, which began on August 9.
