I'm a 41 year old mom who still plays videos games regularly, my husband plays video games, my 19, 18, and 5 year old play video games. I just view it as an activity like any other. There's benefits to any and all activities, it has been proven that video games can develop hand eye coordination and problem solving.

Jun 17, 2021 · Good luck! I was about 30 when I started letting my kids play video games. We had an NES and the whole family liked playing the Mario games, so it was easy to keep tabs on what the kids were playing. The kids were 7 and 5, respectively. My girl is playing minecraft at age 5.

Jan 1, 2022 · The benefits of reading to infants and toddlers is well documented. Just so we are clear here, the American Academy for Pediatrics recommends no screen time for children under 18. None. Strapping them to your chest and forcing them to watch you play video games is almost cruel, in my opinion.

Apr 30, 2024 · Whenever I'm playing with kids I still play, just mute my mic so I don't curse into the mic or anything. If you play MP VR games you're gonna encounter tons of kids cause they're likely the primary demographic being targeted at the moment. If anything I end up feeling like a babysitter sometimes.

My wife is at most a very rare casual gamer and never was a gamer in the past. She'll pickup a Mario game once a month maybe for 30 minutes or spend an hour a week playing with the kids. This is a very good observation and helps my aged millennial brain rationalize it. They aren’t replacing video games, they are replacing TV. Obviously there are no absolutes, but that makes a lot of sense.
